L'amour éternel n'est qu'illusion. Closer est un drame déchirant et émoustillant où l'amour, la douleur, le sexe et la trahison se rencontrent. Lorsqu'un triangle amoureux devient carré, la vérité semble de plus en plus hors de porté. Une série de scènes où les amoureux s’interchangent alors que ce quatuor lutte pour tenter d’être intime, mais n'arrive pas à se rapprocher. La pièce est mise en scène par Alex Goldrich qui fût récement vu sur les planches d'Hamlet et Oroonoko (Persephone Productions) et en tant que rôle principal dans Macbeth (Montreal Shakespeare Theatre Company). La production fait place à une distribution pleine de promesses incluant Lucas Chartier-Dessert (Hamlet, Persephone Productions), Stephanie Coco-Palermo (The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later, Brave New Productions), Alex Gravenstein (The Goat, Player’s Theatre) et Karine Kerr (Macbeth, Montreal Shakespeare Theatre Company). Closer sera présenté au théâtre MainLine, un théâtre indépendant bien-aimé qui, en dépit de récentes difficultés financières, a été en mesure de garder ses portes ouvertes grâce à une vague incroyable de soutien des amateurs de théâtre. La production prends place sur une scène ouverte, ce qui créer un cadre intimiste pour ce drame émouvant et incroyablement bien écrit. Avec une scénographie minimaliste et quelques changements de costumes, la pièce s'appuie énormément sur les performances des quatre acteurs pour propulser le public dans leurs cœurs, alors qu'ils tombent amoureux et tombe en morceaux devant leur yeux. When you believe in love at first sight, you never stop looking. Four lives intertwine over the course of four and a half years in this densely plotted, stinging look at modern love and betrayal. When a love triangle becomes a square, the truth keeps getting further out of reach. A series of pass-the-lover scenes in which this quartet struggle to find intimacy but can’t seem to get closer. The play is directed by Alex Goldrich, who was recently seen on stage in Hamlet and Oroonoko (Persephone Productions) and as the title role in Macbeth (Montreal Shakespeare Theatre Company). The production features a young, up-and-coming cast consisting of Lucas Chartier-Dessert (Hamlet, Persephone Productions), Stephanie Coco-Palermo (The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later, Brave New Productions), Alex Gravenstein (The Goat, Player’s Theatre) and Karine Kerr (Macbeth, Montreal Shakespeare Theatre Company).
